Hydrothermal Fluid and Particle Sampler (HFPS): HFPS collect fluids and particles while measuring temperature continuously, and pH and H2S when selected. Using a 25-port valve and two pumps built by McLane Research Laboratories, fluids are pumped through a titanium intake nozzle with a Pt resistance temperature sensor in-line in the nozzle, through a Teflon hose (Aeroquip 1/2-inch outer diameter, stainless-steel clad) and custom titanium and Teflon manifold with 24 ports. The sampler has a capacity of 18 water samples (700ml each) and 6 in-situ filters.
