Running a Ferret batch job from the shell

Dear Ferreters,

Does anyone know how (if it is at all possible) to
run a ferret script directly from the Unix shell?
For example, is it possible to issue a command
such as this:

shell-prompt% ferret < script.jnl $in1 $in2
