Global Observations of Biogeochemistry and Ocean Physics (GOBOP) Group
The GOBOP Group monitors and studies the distribution and variations in ocean temperature, salinity, oxygen, carbon, nutrients, and currents—and their relations to ocean dynamics, ocean environmental conditions, and ecosystems. Group scientists analyze data collected from the global Argo float array since 2000; hydrographic profiles along oceanographic transects occupied by GO-SHIP and earlier ocean observation programs; as well as historical and satellite ocean observations. Areas of focus include ocean temperature variability and the marine carbon cycle. The group is active in observational activities for all three Argo missions (Core, Deep, and BGC) as well as GO-SHIP.
