Global Observations of Biogeochemistry and Ocean Physics (GOBOP) Group
The GOBOP Group monitors and studies the distribution and variations in ocean temperature, salinity, oxygen, carbon, nutrients, and currents—and their relations to climate, ocean dynamics, and ecosystems. The group conducts research on physical and biogeochemical ocean changes and their impacts using data collected from the global Argo float array since 2000; deep hydrographic profiles along oceanographic transects occupied by GO-SHIP; as well as historical and satellite ocean observations. Areas of focus include ocean warming and the marine carbon cycle. The group is active in observational activities for all three Argo missions (Core, Deep, and BGC) as well as GO-SHIP.
