Hi C. Shaji,
On the Ferret Downloads page, we have two executables of Ferret v5.81 
available for linux, one built using rh 7.1, and one built using rh 9.  
We have had reports that people have successfully installed the RedHat 
9.0 executable on other linux systems.  Please try the linux RH9 
executable. There are instructions for installing an upgrade in the 
installation instructions
