Can you use ferret to do spatial spectral analysis?

Daar ferret users:
 As you know, most users often do spectral analysis to time series. Here I 
want to do spatial spectral analysis a long a latitude circle.
 I try to use the fucntion ffta and substitute the spatial series into the 
time series.  But I got nothing . 
 Is it possiblbe to do this kind of things using ferret?
 Has anybody done this beofore? can you give me some hint?
